About ShooterBoard

What is ShooterBoard?

ShooterBoard is a community classifieds platform for the shooting, hunting, and gunsmithing community in the United States. It is a listing board – a place where users can post items for sale, browse listings, and connect with one another directly.

Is ShooterBoard a store or marketplace?

No. ShooterBoard is not a store, marketplace, broker, dealer, or payment processor. It is a classified listings platform – similar in concept to a traditional bulletin board or early Craigslist. All transactions happen entirely between users, off-platform.

Does ShooterBoard handle payments or transactions?

No. ShooterBoard does not process payments, hold funds, provide escrow, or offer buyer/seller protection of any kind. Users arrange and complete all transactions independently and at their own risk.

Is ShooterBoard free to use?

Yes. During the current stage, ShooterBoard is a non-commercial personal project. There are no fees to create an account, post listings, or browse the site. This may change in the future, but the core classified-listing model will remain the same.

Accounts and Listings

How do I create an account?

Visit shooterboard.com and follow the registration process. You will need a valid email address. Email verification may be required.

Who can use ShooterBoard?

You must be at least 18 years old to use ShooterBoard. For certain firearms-related transactions, you must be at least 21 years old where required by federal or state law. You must also comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

How do I post a listing?

After creating an account, use the listing form to describe your item. Include clear photos of the actual item, an honest description of condition, your general location (city and state), and your preferred method of contact or transfer (local meetup, ship to FFL, etc.).

Can I post anything on ShooterBoard?

No. All listings must comply with the Terms of Service and the Prohibited Items Policy. Items that are illegal, stolen, fraudulent, or otherwise prohibited are not allowed. Listings that encourage bypassing legal procedures are also not permitted.

How long do listings stay active?

Listing duration may depend on the platform settings at the time of posting. You can remove or update your listing at any time through your account.

Legal and Compliance

Do I need to use an FFL dealer?

It depends on the item, the type of transfer, and the laws in your state. As a general rule:

  • Interstate firearms transfers (buyer and seller in different states) must go through an FFL in the buyer’s state of residence under federal law.
  • Intrastate transfers (same state) may or may not require an FFL depending on your state’s laws – some states require background checks and FFL involvement even for private sales.
  • NFA items (suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, etc.) have additional federal requirements including ATF Form 4 and tax stamps.

When in doubt, use an FFL. It is the safest and most legally defensible option. See the FFL Transfer Checklist and ATF Links & Federal Basics pages on this site for more information.

Does ShooterBoard verify that listings are legal?

No. ShooterBoard does not verify listings, users, items, or the legality of any transaction. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their listings and transactions comply with all applicable laws.

Does ShooterBoard verify user identities?

No. ShooterBoard does not perform identity verification, background checks, or licensing checks. Users should exercise their own due diligence when interacting with other users.

What laws do I need to follow?

You must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This includes but is not limited to the Gun Control Act (GCA), the National Firearms Act (NFA), your state’s firearms laws, and any local ordinances. ShooterBoard is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Report it to us at info@shooterboard.com. Include the listing URL, a description of the issue, and screenshots if available.

Does ShooterBoard protect me if a deal goes wrong?

No. ShooterBoard is not a party to any transaction and does not offer buyer protection, seller guarantees, refunds, mediation, or dispute resolution. All transactions are between users at their own risk.
